Hawkinsville Harness Race

Hawkinsville’s annual Harness Races were going down, so we decided to see what it was all about. So far we’ve seen much more track prep than track useage, but it’s pretty neat once they get going.

Destination: Golden Driller

I didn’t realize that with all the trips to Tulsa, OK, I hadn’t ever taken the family by the Golden Driller. I have memories of the driller going back to at least early grade school, and now the fam got to behold the majesty of the world’s tallest free standing sculpture!

Coleman Hill Jazz Concert

We made it to Coleman Hill – the jazz concert that is part of the Macon Cherry Blossom Festival wasn’t there… Instead it was inside and downtown, due to rain. The rain is going to miss us, but we’ve got a climate-controlled picnic dinner, wine, and jazz.

So we got the idea to make the corn dogs from the Pioneer Woman, and someone suggested making funnel cakes with the bounty of left over batter. It turned out well!

Plaster Disaster!

Gravity makes applying plaster to a ceiling a messy affair. Rebecca and I did about 500 sq ft of ceiling in the dining room. I figure I came off pretty well, all and all. I was following this guy’s method. There was also some drama: a glop of plaster hit a light and it exploded!

Rebecca took the kids out to a local fishing park. They had a hoot, even if Lucy looks grossed out. She did better when she caught her second fish. Alex hung out with some other kid, out of camera shot, so he isn’t featured here.
